Will Oprah's New Show About the Family of a Mega-Church Be a Hit or Miss?

The OWN Network has a new project on the horizon that Oprah Winfrey has stated will be "mindful and respectful of the church as an institution". The show is called "Greenleaf" and is centered around the surrealistic lives of Bishop Greenleaf and the first family of a Memphis mega-church called Calvary Fellowship World Ministries. As a competitor of Fox's" Empire",

"Greenleaf's" inspirational portrayal of a Black church is said to have story lines laced with themes of lust, adultery anger and revenge, mixed with elicit language.

Be it as it may, most church going people still hold their leaders on a pedestal. Throughout the years when a scandal has brewed and come to fruition in the real church, it's left many hurt and caused great confusion. As Christians, we strive to portray images of living every single day as best as we can according to God's word. Although we still fall and deal with hardships and issues, we lead lives that show examples of how God's influence can erase the hurt and pain of your past, moving you into a life of joy and the peace that God offers.

We are sure that this show will be juicy and that it will most likely get the ratings that they are looking for as their themes are present in a lot of tv shows and movies of recent years, but it leads us to the question...will some Christians be offended?

"Greenleaf" is set to premiere June 21, 2016 on OWN Network.
