THROUGH ART & ACTIVISM PEACHANDA DUBOSE STANDS FOR JUSTICE


Award-Winning Playwright Peachanda Dubose uses her voice to be heard through art and activism in Ferguson The Musical. Powerful and clear-cut in it's mission to eradicate racism and the devastating effects of police brutality and deliberate killing.

Ferguson showcases the Black Lives Matter Movement shifting the mindsets of the audience with 13 jurors as they deliberate the conviction or acquittal of a defendant accused of murdering an unarmed young man. This group of strong black men explore the complexities and difficulties encountered in the process. Strong personalities coupled with intense conflict, the actors force the audience to evaluate their own self-image observing passionate deliveries and action of personal experiences of the jurors.

As the play progressed, the crowd bobbed their heads to electrifying hip-hop beats and cheered to melodic songs throughout the two-hour evening. Teary-eyed supporters and activists left the building feeling hopeful, inspired and ready for change.

Playwright Peachanda Dubose proves time and time again, that not only do Black lives matter, so does Black excellence in theatre.
